Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent
- One year of experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or other public contact work
- College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for the required experience
- Requires a valid class E driver license
- Occasional travel for training required
- Ability to respond to emergencies, including natural disasters
- Successful background screening including fingerprinting
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in radio-teletype operations, law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting, or public contact work
- Valid class E driver license
- Ability to operate radios, telephones, and computers
- Knowledge of geographic information systems and mapping software
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to work varied shifts and respond to emergencies
Job Duties
- Dispatch crews to wildfires, smoke complaints and other incidents
- Receive and transmit information via radio and telephone for emergency response
- Approve or deny burn authorizations and maintain related records
- Conduct on-site inspections, compliance checks, and assist landowners
- Maintain electronic and paper files and prepare reports
- Relay daily fire weather forecasts and unusual weather activity
- Coordinate with agencies and keep supervisors informed
