Job Description

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of relevant experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or other public contact work
  • valid Class E driver license
  • ability to travel occasionally for training
  • pass background screening including fingerprinting
  • no use of Artificial Intelligence tools for qualifying questions or interviews

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or other public contact work
  • college education may substitute for experience at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours
  • valid Class E driver license
  • knowledge of computer systems including radios, telephones and incident tracking software
  • ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • good communication skills
  • ability to read and understand maps and geographic information systems

Job Duties

  • Dispatch crews to wildfires, smoke complaints and other incidents
  • approve or deny burn authorizations and maintain related records
  • conduct on-site inspections, compliance checks and provide landowner assistance
  • maintain paper and electronic files, prepare reports and assist supervisory personnel
  • receive and handle or transfer incoming telephone calls
  • gather and relay fire weather information and forecasts
  • perform other related work as assigned
