Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- One year of relevant experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or public contact work
- Valid class E driver license
- Must live within 30 miles of assigned headquarters at Bryceville, Florida
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for training and emergency response
- Successful completion of background screening and fingerprinting
- Compliance with drug-free workplace regulations
- No use of artificial intelligence tools in application process
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in radio-teletype operations, sworn law enforcement, dispatching, forestry, firefighting or other public contact work
- Valid class E driver license
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in critical situations
- Knowledge of fire control laws and safety precautions
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Competency in computer operations and records management
Job Duties
- Coordinate emergency response of firefighters, supervisors, pilots, and law enforcement personnel through a communications center
- Receive radio and telephone information concerning wildfires and smoke obscuring highways
- Determine required action and dispatch emergency response personnel and aircraft
- Operate computer systems to transmit, receive, and store fire reports, burning authorizations, weather information, and law enforcement reports
- Approve or deny outdoor burning authorizations and advise landowners on fire safety
- Collect and report weather conditions and crew readiness information
- Prepare administrative reports and maintain files
- Provide information to the public on fire control laws and department programs
- Assist maintenance section with records and inventory control
- Relay administrative communications to appropriate personnel
- Respond to emergencies including natural disasters as needed
