Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years experience in an arena, convention center or similar facility operations
- Ability to operate company provided cell phone and computer systems
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years' experience in an operations position in an arena, convention center, public assembly facility or similar location with knowledge of setup, housekeeping and event coordination
- Advanced degree in Facility Management or related field may substitute for experience
- Basic computer skills including typing, data entry and email
- Ability to use a company provided cell phone effectively for communication
- Advanced skills and experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel preferred
- Strong leadership skills with ability to manage in a high-pressure environment
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements
- Forklift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days
- Superior interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Clear and concise English communication skills, oral and written
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
- Valid Driver's License preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of all venue and exhibition and convention spaces
- Interview, select, train, coach, evaluate, and discipline full and part time staff with approval of terminations
- Provide staff training for all employees and temporary workers
- Deliver and follow up on performance improvement procedures on a timely basis
- Ensure staff compliance with safety guidelines and OSHA standards
- Understand, comply with, and execute parameters of collective bargaining agreements
- Lead and coordinate staff training and safety programs
- Mentor and coach employees to correct deficiencies and manage discipline processes
- Assist or lead planning, directing, coordinating, and review of work plans for facility operations
- Review event documents to forecast staffing and equipment needs
- Participate in budgeting and monitor expenditures, implement adjustments as necessary
- Coordinate facility arrangements with concessionaires and AV teams
- Oversee and support changeover and housekeeping crews
- Schedule and adjust crews for various events
- Maintain departmental equipment and liaise with Operations Manager for repairs
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
