Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • minimum four years related experience
  • minimum one year supervisory experience
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, and hazmat regulations
  • intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and job specific software
  • ability to allocate work assignments
  • problem analysis and solution implementation skills
  • ability to interpret technical and business documents
  • strong written communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum four years related experience
  • minimum one year supervisory experience
  • bachelor's degree in international business, logistics, supply chain management, transportation, finance or related discipline preferred
  • three years industry experience preferred
  • working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, hazmat regulations and recordkeeping
  • some professional certifications may be required
  • intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications
  • ability to allocate work assignments
  • proven experience in problem analysis and solution implementation
  • ability to read and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Job Duties

  • Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times
  • provide responsible supervision and control for all departmental activities
  • assist in retention and training efforts of staff and customers
  • conduct meetings with staff to assess overall status and discuss improvements
  • address employee performance problems promptly and directly
  • oversee performance statistics
  • review and monitor shipment documentation for accuracy and compliance
  • examine invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure regulatory compliance
  • compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported
  • communicate with customs officials to obtain freight release and resolve delays
  • establish, monitor, and revise policies and procedures for customs clearance operations
  • ensure consistent administration of policies
  • identify concerns in clients' import/export processes through monitoring and audits
  • communicate with operations manager regarding progress and issues
  • maintain flexible work schedule including after-hours on call rotation
  • participate in or supervise department projects related to area of responsibility
