Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • minimum four years related experience
  • minimum one year supervisory experience
  • proficient knowledge of customs regulations and compliance
  • excellent communication and leadership skills
  • working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, hazmat regulations
  • intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • ability to work flexible hours including after hours on call
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • ability to manage and supervise team members
  • valid professional certifications preferred

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • minimum four years related experience
  • minimum one year supervisory experience
  • bachelor's degree in international business, logistics or supply chain management, transportation, finance or related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • three years of industry experience preferred
  • working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, hazmat regulations and recordkeeping
  • some professional certifications may be required
  • intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications
  • ability to allocate work assignments
  • proven experience in problem analysis and implementing solutions
  • ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Job Duties

  • develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times
  • provide responsible supervision and control for all departmental activities
  • assist in retention and training efforts of staff and customers
  • conduct meetings with staff to assess group status and discuss improvements
  • address all employee performance problems promptly and in accordance with personnel policies
  • oversee performance statistics and review shipment documentation for accuracy
  • examine invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with regulations
  • compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise
  • communicate with customs officials to resolve shipment delays
  • establish, monitor, and revise policies and procedures for customs clearance operations
  • identify areas of concern in clients' import and export processes
  • communicate with operations manager regarding progress and issues
  • maintain flexible work schedule including after hours on call rotation
  • participate in or supervise department projects related to area of responsibility
