Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum four years related experience
- Minimum one year supervisory experience
- Working knowledge of ITAR, import brokerage, export compliance, Hazmat regulations and recordkeeping
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet and job specific software
- Ability to allocate work assignments and lead staff
- Proven problem analysis and solution skills
- Strong reading and interpretation skills of business and regulatory materials
- Effective written communication skills
- Flexible schedule including after-hours on-call availability
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum four years related industry experience
- Minimum one year supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Finance or related discipline preferred
- Working knowledge of ITAR, Import Brokerage, Export Compliance, Hazmat Regulations and recordkeeping
- Some professional certifications may be required
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and job specific software applications
- Proven experience in problem analysis and solution implementation
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals and governmental regulations
- Strong written communication skills including reports and business correspondence
Job Duties
- Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times
- Provide responsible supervision and control for all departmental activities
- Assist in the retention and training efforts of staff and customers
- Conduct meetings with staff to assess group status and discuss improvement ideas
- Address employee performance issues promptly in accordance with personnel policies
- Oversee performance statistics and review shipment documentation for accuracy
- Examine invoices, bills of lading and shipping statements to ensure compliance with regulations
- Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported/imported
- Communicate with customs officials to obtain release of freight and resolve delays
- Establish, monitor, and revise customs clearance policies, procedures, and service standards
- Identify areas of concern in import/export processes through monitoring and audits
- Communicate with operations manager regarding progress and addressing issues
- Maintain flexible work schedule including after-hours on-call rotation
- Participate in and/or supervise departmental projects related to area of responsibility
