Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience handling imports and exports via ocean and air products or equivalent education and expertise
  • Experience with import compliance, rules and regulations preferred
  • Familiarity with accrual and billing processes for customer services
  • Knowledge of Importer Security Filing (ISF) preferred
  • Knowledge of CargoWise (C1) preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Incoterms required

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with import and export shipment handling using both air and ocean products
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Detail oriented and able to multitask
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Knowledge of United States customs laws, practices and procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare, review and process shipment documents ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Receive and track customer bookings and shipments while updating clients on shipment status and delays
  • Comply with all company business process guidelines
  • Bill and invoice each file accurately to customers paying attention to payment terms
  • Resolve and reconcile payables with vendors and overseas offices
  • Assist sales and management in compiling shipment quotes
  • Provide job costing forecasts and manage payables, receivables and accruals
  • Provide responsive and effective customer service
  • Dispatch freight for delivery and maintain communication with truckers
  • Monitor customer shipping patterns and report changes to management
  • Cross-train to act as backup for team members
  • Report on customer performance and changes in support
  • Promote compliance across the department
  • Identify and communicate issues requiring management escalation
  • Ensure timely correspondence to customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
