Job Requirements

  • high school degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years managerial or supervisory experience with DOT regulated positions
  • proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with associates and external customers
  • strong time management and organizational skills with follow-up and follow through
  • ability to make independent decisions and manage problems
  • demonstrated ability to develop and execute annual financial operating plans
  • capability to drive process improvement and lead change
  • sense of ownership and urgency in operation
  • strong written and oral communication including presentation and active listening skills
  • regular, predictable, full attendance
  • willingness to travel
  • ability to work required schedule and location

Job Qualifications

  • 4-6 years related functional experience
  • 3+ years managerial or supervisory experience with DOT regulated positions required
  • high school degree or equivalent required
  • bachelor’s degree preferred

Job Duties

  • establish and sustain training and competency among supervisors and associates
  • recruit, hire, train, develop and retain quality associates
  • maintain effective two-way communication to inform, motivate and recognize excellence
  • build strong relationships with associates, customers and supporting departments
  • meet or exceed customer key performance metrics
  • interact daily with local customers to understand needs
  • identify operational improvements such as route optimization and carrier selection
  • collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices
  • develop and execute annual financial and operating plans
  • lead operation to meet or exceed business plan targets
  • monitor operating metrics and make timely adjustments
  • ensure accurate and timely billing, payroll and P&L activities
  • lead a culture of safety through example
  • develop and assess continuous improvement plans to reduce accidents
  • ensure associates understand their safety roles
  • identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors
  • ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies
  • coach through safety observations
  • identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • track and record value delivered to customers
  • seize profitable business opportunities
  • monitor and maximize customer efficiencies
  • improve fleet and equipment utilization
