Job Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review
- maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required
- pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
- pass and maintain DOT medical evaluation to drive Herzog commercial vehicle
- successfully complete and maintain required safety certification and testing annually
- able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile
- maintain balance while train is in motion
- aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands amid moderately loud noises
- work in confined spaces of 24 inches width
- adapt to temperature extremes including heat, cold, moisture, and wind
- regularly sit and stand for extended periods
- tolerate repetitive movements including bending and overhead reaching
- regularly push/pull a force of 25 pounds
- regularly ascend/descend platforms up to 18 inches high
- pass color vision examinations
- hear and distinguish auditory signals
- work in a safety sensitive environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- college or technical school degree is a plus
- managerial or supervisory experience in public transportation operations
- public rail transportation experience is a plus
- possess or able to earn FTA Transit Safety and Security Program certification for rail
- possess or able to earn FTA Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program certificate for rail
- strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- demonstrated team-building experience
- proficient with Microsoft Office products
Job Duties
- Manage streetcar operational programs, procedures, and staff
- ensure leadership and management of transportation operational staff supporting safety, service performance, and customer service goals
- promote Herzog Culture Playbook in training and daily operations
- oversee workforce planning including staffing, scheduling, and forecasting
- develop, maintain, and update safety and operating rules and SOPs
- ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- prepare operating schedules, post bid sheets, and fill jobs meeting revenue service levels
- conduct training, certification, and re-certification of operators
- foster strong relationships with employees and union leadership
- counsel and monitor compliance with rules, procedures, and regulations
- act as liaison between operations and internal departments and external agencies
- maintain consistent communication with designated staff
- document non-compliance and handle labor-related disputes
- review and approve pay sheets
- administer PTO program for operations staff
- support OCC operations and oversight
- prepare operations reports and maintain procedural documentation
- direct internal departments and emergency response during incidents
- develop and control delay management strategies
- ensure system safety and security during operations
- improve safety and performance continuously
- monitor compliance with EEO and workplace policies
- oversee hazard and incident investigations
- comply with FTA Safety Management System requirements
- perform operational evaluations and proficiency tests
- participate in emergency drills and safety audits
- resolve operational hazards with corrective action plans
- provide performance and overtime reports
- perform hazard analysis
- operate streetcar as needed
- maintain punctuality and attendance
- perform other assigned duties
