Job Requirements
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
- minimum 2 years of camping or customer service experience
- knowledge of youth behavior management and child abuse prevention
- capability to respond to emergency situations
- leadership with independent work and organizational skills
- physical ability to engage in rigorous outdoor activities
- professional communication skills
- must be 21+ years old
- possession of a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
- ability to pass a drug screen including testing for marijuana
- driving record compliance with YMCA standards regarding suspensions, moving violations, DUI, reckless driving, and other disqualifying offenses
- willingness to live onsite at camp
- ability to work full-time seasonal schedule
Job Qualifications
- Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
- 2+ years camping or customer service experience
- experience with youth behavior management and child abuse prevention knowledge
- ability to respond to emergency situations
- demonstrated leadership skills
- ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- organizational skills
- ability to participate in physically rigorous outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, camping, and swimming
- ability to relate professionally to parents, caregivers, participants, and staff
- driving authorization meeting YMCA of Greater Seattle standards
- preferred master’s degree in relevant or closely related field
- preferred knowledge of diverse populations and languages
- preferred experience with anti-racism practices and coalition building
Job Duties
- Supervises assigned seasonal staff by observing, coaching, providing feedback, evaluating, and assisting with problem solving
- supervises and assists with specific participant supervision
- ensures all staff account for participant safety especially those requiring extra support
- plans and implements camp programming and events
- assists in day-to-day operations of camp programs
- manages participant and staff behaviors
- communicates with caregivers or guardians as needed
- maintains high standards of housekeeping including bathrooms, cabins, and main lodge
- assists in keeping all program equipment in working condition and available
- assists in maintaining all program areas in a safe and orderly condition
- ensures communication with support staff including kitchen and maintenance
- attends staff meetings
- participates in and leads specific areas of staff training
- stays on call overnight as assigned
- maintains relevant American Camping Association standards
- follows YMCA policies and procedures including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency protocols
- performs other duties as assigned
