Job Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Pass a pre-hire drug screen and random alcohol and drug testing
- Pass federal fingerprint based criminal history background check
- Available for recall during non-duty hours for emergencies, snow removal or other required duties
- Ability to operate airport equipment independently and safely
- Ability to perform routine maintenance
- Ability to use two-way radio equipment and communicate effectively
- Ability to represent the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority professionally when delivering customer service
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least six months of maintenance-related work experience
- Basic knowledge of computer operations including email, word processing, and spreadsheet applications
- Ability to operate various airport equipment safely
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance relevant to airport operations
Job Duties
- Conducts daily and special inspections of all facilities for safety, security, aesthetics and regulatory compliance and reports findings to the Operations Coordinator I and takes corrective action when able or generates maintenance requests
- Maintains a daily shift log detailing all routine, non-routine and important happenings occurring anywhere on airport property
- Monitors day to day construction activities and escorts contractor crews when necessary and ensures highest level of safety for work crews and aircraft
- Administers Wildlife Management Program
- Compiles incident reports to be submitted to the Operations Coordinator I
- Assists Airport Maintenance Department with facility repairs and grounds maintenance, when necessary
- Conducts regular vehicle/equipment preventative maintenance inspections and reports finding to the Operations Coordinator I
- Performs janitorial duties, as necessary
- Must be able to drive a tractor for mowing and snow removal
- Must be able to use a radio and communicate with aircraft
- Fuels aircraft, maintains fuel farm, conducts daily, quarterly, monthly, and annual fuel quality controls and accepts fuel deliveries
- Performs other aircraft servicing functions as necessary to include towing, marshalling, transient space assignments, etc
- Daily policing and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures, Airport rules and regulations, all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
- Coordinates with coworkers in the management of assigned projects
- Advises Operations Coordinator I of conditions requiring the issuance of Notices To Airmen (NOTAM)
- Ensures highest level of customer service and assistance
- Fields complaints from clients, customers, the community, tenants, etc.
- Assists with youth group/community enrichment programs
- Prepares complaint forms
- Monitors access control program and reports discrepancies
- Accurately handles monies from fuel/aviation product sales
- Assists with hangar inspections for lease compliance and after move-out
- Assists with initial training of airport employees and assigning Airport Interns with projects
- Other duties as assigned
