Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • three years of event operations or facilities management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • AutoCAD experience or certification preferred
  • ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • must be located in or willing to commute to Norfolk, VA
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to manage personnel and coordinate multiple event logistics
  • knowledge of facility maintenance and safety standards

Job Duties

  • Manages crew members by scheduling and coordinating work assignments, training, and developing personnel
  • participates in candidate selection, conducts performance evaluations, approves payroll, and resolves personnel issues
  • coordinates staffing and logistics by supervising event personnel and volunteers
  • provides direct oversight of event crews and manages operations from event setup through breakdown
  • serves as duty manager ensuring seamless event execution and safety adherence
  • manages facility operations including daily maintenance and upkeep of facilities and event-related equipment
  • leads special projects with outside vendors and contractors including cost analysis and payment approvals
  • facilitates event scheduling by checking venue, equipment and personnel availability
  • creates and updates event operations schedules, stagehand requests, and contractor cleaning services
  • provides customer service support responding to inquiries and resolving client issues
  • coordinates scheduling with hockey coaching staff and oversees daily ice maintenance and equipment operation
  • performs seasonal ice installations and painting
  • provides estimates for technical event aspects including conversion labor and logistical needs
  • performs administrative duties including meetings coordination and reports development
  • maintains inventory of available event equipment and schedules maintenance
  • develops layouts and drawings for arena and event setups using AutoCAD
  • serves as liaison for hockey ice needs ensuring contractual compliance
  • manages event labor scheduling and equipment setup for various venues and outdoor events
  • prepares for inclement weather and emergency situations including security protocols and building security procedures
  • plans and coordinates logistics for City-wide events and special community activities
  • develops and implements policies and procedures for event application and coordination
  • maintains accurate records and reports
  • performs other duties as assigned
