Job Requirements

  • Be a resident of the state of Texas
  • Currently authorized to work in the U.S. with no sponsorship available
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Possess a valid state motor vehicle operator's license
  • Ability to obtain a SIDA badge and meet local airport requirements
  • Ability to work shift work including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift and move items of 70 pounds or more
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and stand frequently and for extended periods
  • Ability to carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance according to company standards
  • No prior education required
  • Ability to comply with company attendance standards
  • Must not have been interviewed for the Operations Agent position at SAT within the last 12 months and not selected
  • Preferred two years airline or military related experience
  • Must be GSC qualified
  • Must successfully complete training with a 90 or greater average

Job Qualifications

  • Preferred two years of airline or military related work experience in ramp, operations, provisioning functions
  • Ability to work well with others as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills including written and oral
  • Ability to read documents, follow instructions, and learn operational procedures
  • Ability to type and/or use a computer keyboard with sufficient speed
  • Must successfully complete operations agent training program with a 90 or greater average and evaluation/probationary period
  • Ability to handle emergencies and hazardous situations as needed
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple functions simultaneously
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance in accordance with company guidelines
  • Must be GSC qualified
  • Must comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing program

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers
  • Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of the company
  • Provide legendary customer service to people boarding the aircraft by coordinating ramp, operations, provisioning and servicing aircraft to ensure on-time departures and quick turnarounds
  • Work in airport operation office, gate area, jetways and air freight facilities
  • Open and close the stations, advising dispatch of same
  • Handle station AMS and radio communications traffic as needed
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of aircraft by monitoring ramp activities
  • Answer station operations telephones
  • Advise gate agents when boarding will begin
  • Prepare dispatch release forms and collect weather reports from operations suite for the crew
  • Arrange for fueling of aircraft as required
  • Prepare weight and balance forms
  • Advise dispatch, FLIFO and stations of flight departures and arrivals
  • Close out flights, file and maintain accurate flight papers
  • Ascertain that aircraft are properly cleaned and provisioned prior to departure
  • Coordinate special services needed on aircraft such as servicing lavatories, cabin grooming, wheelchairs for customers and special emergency cleaning
  • Operate boarding bridge, coordinate boarding and deplaning customers
  • Work with gate agents in expediting the check-in process, collect boarding passes and/or electronic boarding data, and verify boarding counts
  • Check baggage when necessary
  • Write and submit irregularity reports as required
  • Keep other station personnel advised of flight movements, weather conditions, and irregular operations
  • Prepare statistical reports to record information from trip papers
  • Operate equipment for flight information display systems and update system when operationally necessary
  • Properly maintain and wear the uniform by company regulations and present a neat and professional appearance while on duty
  • Provide friendly service to all co-workers and customers
  • Perform special tasks or assignments as delegated by supervisor or station management personnel
  • Responsible for ground security and assuring operations follow security procedures
  • May perform the duties of a freight agent
  • May perform other job duties as directed by employee's leaders
