Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- must have an active U.S. security clearance
- willing to travel up to 25% of the time
- can be based in Washington, DC
- Mountain View, CA
- San Diego, CA
- Ann Arbor, MI
- or Fort Walton Beach, FL
- preference for local candidates but willing to consider those willing to relocate or travel
- graduate of a certified test pilot school or 10 years test experience including leading test teams
- FAA Part 107 license or better
- maintenance, experimental, developmental, or production test experience
- ordinance handling experience
- minimum 100 hours PIC for Part 107

- FAA Part 107 license or better
- maintenance, experimental, developmental, or production test experience
- ordinance handling experience
- a minimum of 100 flight hours as pilot in command for Part 107
- bachelor's degree preferred
- at least 8 years of aviation and 4 years of aviation safety experience preferred
- experience working with government test teams and Safety Review Boards preferred
- advanced degrees considered equivalent to additional experience
- active US Top Secret Clearance a plus
Job Duties
- Set company safety requirements
- work with the leaders of each vertical to ensure their standard operating procedures support the company's safety requirements
- collaborate with project and vertical leads to evaluate risks for each project
- serve as impartial arbitrator of risk for projects and take direct authority for safety when risk level exceeds medium
- stay informed of latest regulatory guidance and industry best practices pertaining to operational safety and ensure company compliance
- provide safety training and host safety stand-downs and recurrent safety sessions
- oversee development, review, and amendment of company operational and test documentation including manuals and SOPs
- lead periodic reviews of operational safety plans and ensure use and practicality of mitigation procedures
- coordinate test risk management activities by participating in test plan reviews, operational briefings, and readiness reviews
- procure and provide necessary safety training to operators and safety risk evaluators
