Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Food Handler's Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire
  • Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
  • Valid driver's license with auto insurance and transportation
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire
  • Proven volunteer management experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proven experience managing and engaging volunteers effectively
  • Bilingual or bicultural skills in languages such as English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred
  • Excellent organizational, record keeping, time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in team environments and communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Strong problem solving and solution implementation skills
  • Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and client data management systems

Job Duties

  • Manage the safe and efficient preparation of senior dining services following all relevant procedures and health regulations
  • Provide management and oversight of meal preparation including scratch and ethnic cooking for Meals on Wheels and senior dining programs
  • Manage and maintain adequate levels of food and non-food items ensuring safety and proper storage
  • Establish a positive and welcoming atmosphere for participants and volunteers
  • Assist Site Manager with responsive hunger relief services including supplemental meals and partnership meal services
  • Assist in training and supervision of kitchen and dining room volunteers
  • Maintain high kitchen standards in sanitation and safety and complete administrative tasks as assigned
