Job Description
Multnomah County's Department of Community Justice (DCJ) is a nationally recognized leader in community justice, committed to enhancing public safety through evidence-based practices and community collaboration. Serving both adult and juvenile populations, DCJ operates with nearly 650 employees and emphasizes workforce equity, diversity, and inclusion. The Juvenile Services Division within DCJ supervises youth on probation and runs the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Facility, providing comprehensive meals through its Nutrition Services Unit. This unit produces around 200 meals daily for detained youth, operates a public cafe, and contributes to community safety by supporting youth in a detention setting.

Job Requirements
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade
- Up to one (1) year of relevant dishwashing, school lunch, catering or institutional school lunch, restaurant, cafe/deli, or catering, or institutional food service experience
- Must possess valid Oregon Food Handler's Card at time of hire or within 30 days
- Must pass thorough background investigation including criminal, civil, driving, military, educational and employment history
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds highly desired
- Ability to push/pull 200-400 pounds
- Must be able to work variable shifts between 5:00 am and 7:30 pm
- On-call work up to 20 hours per week

Job Duties
- Wash utensils, pots and pans, food carts, trays and food preparation/serving/storage areas by machine or by hand in accordance with sanitation guidelines
- Perform various daily cleaning duties
- Receive food, equipment and supplies and rotate inventory to meet federal, state and county standards
- Deliver food throughout the facility and serve meals
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment including dishwashers and food mixing/preparation equipment
- Handle cash, operate cash register and reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift
- Perform other duties as required to run a large institutional kitchen and a cafe and catering company
