Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of three years cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong understanding of cooking measurements, conversions, and portioning
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute meal preparation according to recipes and dietary guidelines
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment use and maintenance
- Basic knowledge of nutritional principles
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution
- Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English
- Effective communication skills
- Basic arithmetic skills
- Strong understanding of cooking measurements and portioning
- Ability to plan and organize work according to recipes and diet specifications
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations
- Some knowledge of nutrition and diet principles
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook all food items and meals in accordance with standardized recipes and planned menus ensuring all meals are of high quality and palatable
- Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and community events
- Prepare soups, appetizers, vegetables, side dishes, and desserts for regular and special diets
- Cook breakfast meals on the hot line and set up salad and sandwich stations
- Support Cook I by preparing starches, vegetables, and soups
- Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse food consulting Culinary Director on menu changes
- Ensure food preparation and service comply with sanitary regulations and established policies
- Report incidents or infractions to Executive Chef and inspect special diet requests for accuracy
- Coordinate timing of food production with meal serving hours to maintain quality, temperature, and appearance
- Manage inventory by checking stock levels, pulling, thawing, and assisting with purchasing and storing food
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitary conditions of kitchen and food storage areas
- Attend in-service training and education sessions and perform other duties as assigned
