Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind
  • Good physical condition and stamina
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and company policies
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to attend company meetings and training sessions

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read work orders and receive oral instructions to determine assignments
  • Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures
  • Ability to maintain inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • May require strong customer relations skills

Job Duties

  • Follow safe methods of work at all times and immediately advise supervisor of unsafe conditions
  • Safely move steel to and from storage, production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles using hand, forklift, overhead crane, or equipment
  • Attach slings, hooks, or devices to lift and guide loads and tie down material
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and exert force to move objects up to 5 miles daily
  • Apply proper bundling techniques
  • Configure loads based on planned routes with multiple stops
  • Maximize trailer load capacity without sacrificing safety
  • Maintain and operate tools and equipment including tape measure, caliper, hammer, pallet trucks, banding machine, micrometer, beam hooks, plate lifting clamps, forklift, overhead crane
  • Determine safety issues related to equipment and report promptly
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around a busy work environment
  • Attend all required company meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
