Job Description

The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) is a key state agency dedicated to overseeing utility and pipeline services to ensure they are safe, efficient, reliable, and provided at just and reasonable rates throughout Alaska. Established to safeguard the interests of Alaskan residents, the RCA regulates a broad spectrum of services including electric, natural gas, natural gas storage, steam heat, pipeline, refuse, sewer, telecommunications, and water services. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university
  • Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys scores of skill level 3 or higher in graphic literacy, applied math, and workplace documents
  • Ability to operate a State vehicle (for designated positions)
  • Possess valid driver’s license and be 18 years or older by employment start
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Effective communication skills
  • Availability to work standard 7.5 hour days

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university
  • Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys scores of skill level 3 or higher in graphic literacy, applied math, and workplace documents
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interpret technical material and apply information appropriately
  • Prior experience in a clerical or receptionist role preferred

Job Duties

  • Independently provide front desk receptionist and clerical support to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska
  • Scan incoming filings into the agency Case Management System
  • Maintain extensive contact with the general public, attorneys, utility company representatives, RCA staff and Commissioners
  • Assist in managing communications and directing inquiries appropriately
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and filing of agency documents
  • Support daily office operations and tasks
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with diverse stakeholders
