Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • Five years of experience in a transit system and/or transportation operation
  • At least three years of the required experience must have involved working in a bus environment
  • Ability to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain reliable communication for emergency call-back
  • Must travel to various locations within MTA service area
  • Must comply with federal substance abuse testing regulations
  • Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license if required to operate a motor vehicle

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • Five years of experience in a transit system and/or transportation operation
  • At least three years of experience working in a bus environment
  • Knowledge of service control board operations and dispatch procedures
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment

Job Duties

  • Monitor control center functions including service control board and route alignment
  • Direct and coordinate radio communications and dispatching of bus operators
  • Notify management of operational issues such as service disruptions from accidents or equipment loss
  • Enter data on control room forms accurately
  • Manage radio and telephone communications effectively
  • Issue hyper alert notifications when Communications Specialists are unavailable
  • Work assigned shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Respond to emergency situations and staffing shortages by working extended hours
