Job Requirements

  • Employees must be available for 24-hour call-in and maintain reliable communication link
  • must work shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • must travel throughout MTA service area
  • subject to federal substance abuse testing protocols
  • must have effective communication and multitasking skills
  • ability to work in a high-pressure environment

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • five years of experience in a transit system or transportation operation
  • at least three years of experience in a bus environment
  • knowledge of radio dispatching and transit operations
  • ability to maintain communication under emergency situations
  • familiarity with federal transit drug and alcohol testing regulations

Job Duties

  • Monitor service control board and route alignment
  • dispatch and communicate with bus operators via radio
  • enter data accurately on control room forms
  • notify management of operational issues such as accidents or equipment loss
  • coordinate hyper alert notifications when specialists are unavailable
  • work shifts including weekends and holidays
  • support emergency operations and extended hours when needed
