Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Training in dietetics or experience in dietary office preferred
  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in a clinical job
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold for short periods
  • Work in confined spaces for short periods

  • Training in dietetics or experience in dietary office preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to use specialized healthcare software
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergens
  • Experience in customer service
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Answer the telephone to receive menu orders for patient meals using room service and hospital-wide order entry software
  • Use allergy clarification flow charts, scripting, and knowledge from training to assure compliance with diet orders and food allergies during meal ordering
  • Alert dietitians to needed changes for allergies in the electronic medical record
  • Work with patients to coach them in selecting viable meal options that comply with dietary restrictions
  • Follow up on missed meals to offer food to patients
  • Assist with guest trays and staff meals according to procedures
  • Lead call center team meetings and assist with registered dietitian projects
