Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience in food service
  • Criminal background check required for hire

  • One year of experience in food service
  • Experience with school nutrition programs preferred
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of nutrition services
  • Knowledge of child nutrition and Health Department guidelines preferred
  • Supervisory skills
  • Customer service and public relations skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education and Superintendent policies

Job Duties

  • Prepare food according to planned menus and tested recipes
  • Complete daily records, deposits, and money journals
  • Determine the quantities of food to be prepared daily
  • Communicate with kitchen employees, District staff, students, and community to arrange for and serve nutritious meals at assigned District schools
  • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe and proper preparation of food
  • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment
  • Order all necessary supplies in compliance with the order schedule
