Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • sufficient training and experience to demonstrate knowledge and abilities related to food preparation and service
  • valid San Diego County Food Handler's Card
  • ability to work part-time approximately 2 to 3 hours per day, five days per week during the school year
  • ability to pass a competitive selection process including written and performance exams
  • willingness to comply with health and safety standards
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • ability to operate computers and POS terminals
  • ability to maintain sanitary food service environment
  • basic mathematical skills
  • ability to lift and move equipment and supplies safely

Job Qualifications

  • Valid San Diego County Food Handler's Card
  • ability to prepare and serve hot and cold food items
  • experience working in food service environment preferred
  • basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to operate POS systems
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • ability to follow instructions and maintain records
  • basic math skills
  • ability to lift and handle food service equipment safely

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold food items according to guidelines
  • assemble ingredients
  • heat, package, and wrap food items
  • set up food service area and stock supplies
  • distribute meals to students and staff
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food service facilities and equipment
  • perform cashiering duties including cash handling and POS operation
  • prepare a variety of food items such as entrees, sandwiches, and snacks
  • observe food quality, quantity, and temperature standards
  • assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
  • operate standard food service equipment safely
  • maintain records related to food items and meal counts
  • communicate effectively with students and staff
