Job Requirements
- At least two years of experience preparing and serving food in large food service operations
- combination of paid or volunteer experience demonstrating reliability and attention to detail
- possession of a current ServSafe certificate or equivalent food handler's certificate
- ability to obtain and maintain Food Protection Manager certification as per California Retail Food Code Section 113947
- some assignments may require a valid California Driver License and proof of automobile insurance
- ability to lift and move heavy shipments and equipment
- ability to stand and walk for long periods
- ability to work with sharp kitchen tools safely

Job Duties
- Act as baker and cook for assigned nutrition center
- cook, pan, tray, and serve food
- put food in warmers
- mix and bake various baked goods
- determine food quantities and adjust recipes accordingly
- make suggestions to supervisors on student preferences to improve cost effectiveness
- prepare food using kitchen equipment such as slicers, choppers, and mixers
- measure ingredients
- follow recipes and menus
- tray and warm food in oven
- wrap baked goods, sandwiches, and other foods
- prepare special lunches for faculty and staff
- pull inventory needed for each meal
- set up and prepare serving areas
- set up and replenish hot food and beverage areas
- fill warmers with food to be served
- set up teachers' lounge
- record quantity of food used
- count leftover food and beverages
- store food properly
- fill and wrap food containers
- receive, check, count, record, and store deliveries
- conduct daily and monthly inventories
- record cooler and food temperatures for compliance
- place orders for food and goods
- maintain inventory and daily food usage records
- maintain meal service records
- perform cleaning duties to ensure sanitation
- wash, dry, and put away kitchen equipment
- clean and sanitize work areas
- prepare serving carts for specific sites
- transport food on campus
- return food and equipment to center
- prepare meals and packed lunches for off-site programs
- cook on barbecue
- serve students and staff at service lines and carts
- perform cashiering duties including money handling
- forecast and order food and supplies
- train and direct nutrition services staff
- serve as lead at site
- act as back-up for Nutrition Services Supervisor
- drive school van as needed
- load and unload vans
- perform other related duties as assigned
