Job Requirements

  • good visual acuity and ability to communicate
  • ability to lift, push, pull and retrieve approximately 100% of the time
  • ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • ability to safely push and pull objects weighing up to 150 pounds on wheels, with assistance if necessary
  • ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking
  • ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch
  • adherence to company standards of business conduct
  • availability to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, nights and holidays as needed
  • willingness to work during disaster situations and stay beyond scheduled hours if required

Job Qualifications

  • food handlers permit if required by state or county regulations
  • training in food preparation for therapeutic diets
  • recent institutional cooking experience desirable
  • special function cooking experience desirable
  • knowledge of food safety guidelines preferred
  • ability to speak, read and write effectively
  • ability to work independently without supervision

Job Duties

  • assist in preparing therapeutic and modified diets for patients
  • prepare meals for employees, visitors and special functions
  • maintain inventory and serviceware
  • uphold sanitary conditions within the nutrition services department
  • operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, steamers, microwaves and fryers
  • comply with food safety guidelines and hospital standards
  • perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing and pulling of weights up to 50 pounds
