Job Requirements

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • San Diego County Food Handler's Card
  • Food Safety Manager Certification such as ServSafe
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand movements
  • ability to work a varied schedule including weekends and 10-hour shifts
  • 4-5 years managing large food service teams
  • proficiency in basic math and computer skills
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to oversee food production and cater events
  • experience with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to travel locally within San Diego County

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related field desirable
  • 4-5 years of experience managing large food service teams
  • experience with inventory and purchasing
  • experience planning and executing catered events
  • knowledge of food service management principles and human resources policies
  • strong leadership and team development skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to manage stress and fast-paced environments
  • valid California Driver's License
  • Food Safety Manager Certification
  • San Diego County Food Handler's Card
  • certified Dietary Manager certification desired

Job Duties

  • Plan and ensure execution of day-to-day food production
  • create and propose menus and recipes to management
  • inventory, forecast, and purchase food supplies
  • create staffing and production schedules for special events
  • provide hands-on support to kitchen staff during meal production
  • conduct quality assurance inspections for cleanliness and food integrity
  • manage daily opening and closing of facility
  • ensure compliance with cleanliness and sanitation procedures
  • inspect food safety and program regulation documents
  • manage, lead, and inspire culinary staff
  • hire, evaluate, and discipline staff
  • provide regular training to kitchen team
  • lead daily production meetings
  • plan and execute catered events
  • expand catering business systems
  • maintain effective communication and teamwork among staff
  • adapt to changing work schedules and environments
