Job Requirements
- Ability to work in hot kitchens around hot equipment and a variety of other potential hazards ranging from spills on floors to sharp cutting equipment
- ability to withstand changes in work environment temperatures
- insensitivity to allergic reactions as you will be around sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies
- ability to work in wet environment with hands frequently exposed to water
- physical ability to walk, stand for extended periods, and enter walk-in coolers and freezers with assistance
- ability to lift 30 lbs
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- experience in food service or the ability to perform general food service duties
- ability to work in hot kitchen environment around hot equipment and potential hazards
- ability to withstand changes in work environment temperatures
- insensitivity to allergic reactions to sanitation chemicals, gloves, food and supplies
Job Duties
- Prepare quality food items in accordance with production sheets, recipes and menus
- operate kitchen equipment
- prepare food on the grill, in ovens or using an induction stove
- prepare cold food items, vegetables, salad mixes and sandwich spreads
- select, measure, grind, slice and mix ingredients
- assist the cook and nutrition assistants
- participate in the process of preparing food
- assist in the assembly of food for final preparation
- assemble, transport and pick up patient trays to and from patient rooms
- assist in preparing, setting up, serving and cleaning up special dinners and luncheons
- follow proper sanitation procedures to produce, maintain, and leave a clean, sanitized, and organized work area
- practice proper food handling techniques and the clean as you go policy
- organize supplies and food products
- operate, load and unload the dishwasher
- report any failure or malfunction of equipment or utility to a supervisory person
