Job Requirements

  • food handler permit or servsafe certification is required by first day of work
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to maintain positive attitude and communications in high volume, high stress situations
  • ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and tolerate temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals
  • manual dexterity to use equipment and handle food
  • ability to follow food safety standards and HACCP guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • food handler permit or servsafe certification is required by first day of work
  • preferred: food safety and preparation skills, knowledge of how viruses and bacteria can spread, and food safety regulations
  • preferred: barista experience including making espresso, teas, cold beverages & blended beverages
  • preferred: one year of food service or cashier experience
  • ability to maintain work responsibilities, a positive attitude, and positive communications in high volume, high stress situations
  • demonstrated ability to work with modified diets (preferred)
  • demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred)

Job Duties

  • maintains customer satisfaction, service, and identify problem resolutions independently, and escalating as necessary
  • ensuring compliance with provincial or territorial food safety regulations
  • troubleshooting any problems with equipment and scheduling repairs when needed
  • knows menu, portion, and price prior to meal service to provide appropriate service to customers, including answering questions and serving food
  • sets up and services catered functions according to requested level and scope of service
  • understands modified diets and prepares modified recipes using appropriate techniques
  • follows HACCP standards
  • delivers and presents trays to patients using the standard process
  • performs food preparation functions according to system standards and timely production (following standard recipe, assembling ingredients) for example, prepares salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit
  • follows standardized practices relating to Nutrition Services (e.g. dining experience, meal delivery, maintaining required stock levels, disposing of expired ingredients)
  • performs housekeeping functions including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods)
  • performs accurate cash/credit transactions according to system standards and independently resolves basic customer service issues
