Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Compliance with safety policies and procedures
  • Effective communication and collaboration
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
  • Free of communicable diseases
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain punctuality
  • Knowledge of Colorado state and federal nutrition program regulations
  • Ability to work full-time for nine months per year

  • Aptitude and interest in kitchen operations

Job Duties

  • Assist the kitchen lead in food preparation and serving
  • Maintain sanitary and safe kitchen and storage environments
  • Manage proper storage, handling, inventory, and organization of foodservice supplies and equipment
  • Ensure proper use and storage of kitchen chemicals
  • Perform cleaning of kitchen and equipment at scheduled intervals
  • Replenish foods during meal service
  • Assist with storage and disposal of unused food
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, stoves, and dishwashers
  • Collect and process meal payments accurately
  • Prepare deposits complying with regulations
  • Keep daily records for meal claims
  • Transfer school meal program records to Nutrition Services office
  • Use point-of-sale systems to collect customer information
  • Recognize and handle reimbursable meals
  • Report student withdrawals and transfers in writing weekly
  • Manage lunch charge records and collections
  • Train substitute staff per regulations
  • Communicate and collaborate professionally with staff and stakeholders
  • Adapt positively to changes
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
