Job Requirements

At least 19 years of age
1 year of experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar preferred
Available to work nights, holidays, and/or weekends
Able to work in a fast-paced, loud environment and stand for extended periods
Obtain and maintain a current food handler’s card or food safety certification
Complete Responsible Vendor Training
Physically capable of bending, stretching, reaching, squatting, twisting, standing, walking stairs and flat surfaces, lifting up to 50 pounds
Able to communicate effectively in the primary language(s) used at work
Possess basic math and fiscal responsibility skills
Operate a point-of-sale system
Demonstrate a professional image with attention to detail and a desire to serve guests
Able to remain calm and exercise good judgment
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Manage multiple priorities with flexibility and composure

Job Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience in a high-volume restaurant or bar preferred
Able to work nights, holidays, and weekends
Able to work in a fast-paced, loud environment and stand for extended periods
Required to obtain and maintain a current food handler’s card or food safety certification
Required to complete Responsible Vendor Training
Able to speak, read, write, and understand workplace primary language(s)
Possess basic math skills
Able to operate a point-of-sale system
Professional image with attention to detail and well organized
Capable of remaining calm and using good judgment in all situations
Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
Able to prioritize and work on multiple tasks with interruptions while maintaining flexibility and composure

Job Duties

Assist with opening and closing duties such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins
Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer
Check taps and appliances to confirm proper functioning and perform maintenance or change kegs if needed
Keep the bar clean by wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing soiled glassware, cleaning coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash
Learn about menu items and memorize cocktail recipes
Take orders, prepare non-alcoholic drinks, bus tables, open tabs, and process payment especially during peak hours
Communicate promptly and courteously with all guests
Communicate effectively with management and staff
Maintain a clean working environment and follow operating checklists
Follow all applicable liquor laws and company policies
Understand and follow proper rules of hygiene and food safety measures
Be flexible during shifts to ensure smooth and efficient operation as directed
Follow policies and safety procedures to Harkins’ standards
