Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • no previous housekeeping experience required
  • ability to perform moderate physical effort
  • must be able to move furniture and use hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment
  • must complete safety and security training
  • must maintain privacy and security of guests
  • may require valid state driver’s license
  • must obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment

Job Qualifications

  • ability to perform physical tasks including moving furniture and using cleaning equipment

  • willingness to obtain necessary certifications such as food handling and housekeeping

Job Duties

  • Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas
  • operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxers, and polishers
  • empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture
  • cleans and disinfects bathrooms including tubs, tiles, commodes, floors, and vanities
  • cleans kitchen areas including stoves, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, cabinets, and floors
  • washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware
  • cleans and maintains ironing equipment and room fixtures
  • ensures TVs, alarm clocks, and phones are clean, programmed, and functional
  • stocks amenities and replaces bed linens
  • greets and welcomes guests while maintaining privacy and security
  • cleans corridors, stairways, laundry facilities, patios, and balconies including shampooing carpets and polishing rails
  • performs scheduled deep cleaning tasks including refrigerator defrosting and window cleaning
  • maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms
  • communicates room status to supervisors
  • performs minor equipment repairs and reports major maintenance needs
  • cleans and inspects exterior spaces
  • assists with vendor deliveries and merchandise handling
  • manages pass keys and other keys responsibly
  • reports unusual room conditions and lost and found items
  • assists with the setup, replenishment, and cleanup of breakfast bars
  • completes required safety and security training
  • maintains a clean and safe environment with attention to blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • performs laundry operations
  • may travel to other lodging properties as required
  • obtains required housekeeping certifications as mandated
