Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid standard driver’s license (Class D or above)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Medical Examiner Card
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in driving and route management
  • Proficient in English to understand and communicate highway traffic signals and official inquiries
  • Capable of performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
  • Physical capability to load and unload trucks and handle waste materials safely

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 6 plus months of driving and route management experience preferred, specifically with shred/box trucks
  • Valid standard driver’s license (Class D or above) with excellent driving record
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card
  • Sufficient English proficiency to understand highway signs, respond to inquiries, and complete required documentation
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of federal, state and local regulations regarding waste handling
  • Ability to perform vehicle inspections and routine maintenance
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices and GPS technology

Job Duties

  • Manages assigned routes ensuring customers’ waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner
  • Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
  • Plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork such as manifests, route sheets, and previous vehicle condition reports
  • Follows routing software route schedule
  • May prepare and load trucks to service select accounts ensuring enough supplies are added
  • Required to unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites including securing of waste
  • Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day
  • Ensures that customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations before transporting
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily, communicating any issues to supervisors or dispatchers for resolution
  • Ensures waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating the vehicle on public highways
  • Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned for processing
  • Completes DOT Driver Log if applicable
  • Communicates with Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher regarding any change to route pickups including address changes or waste availability
  • Reports any problems or issues with accounts before close of business
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned trucks
  • Reports any maintenance issues for follow-up
  • Uses electronic logging devices and GPS to log hours in accordance with DOT guidelines
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
