Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid standard driver's license (Class D or above)
  • Ability to obtain and retain Medical Examiner Card
  • Minimum six months driving and route management experience preferred
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English adequately
  • Reliable transportation to report to assigned location at 4 a.m.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading trucks
  • Compliance with federal, state, and local waste transport regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six months of experience preferably in driving shred/box trucks and route management
  • Valid standard driver’s license (Class D or above) with excellent driving record
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and official inquiries
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
  • Reliable and punctual work ethic
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks

Job Duties

  • Manages assigned routes ensuring customers' waste is picked up in a safe, timely, and accurate manner
  • Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations
  • Plans daily schedule based on customers' needs by reviewing daily paperwork such as manifest, route sheets, previous VCR
  • Follows routing software route schedule
  • May prepare and load trucks to service select accounts ensuring sufficient supplies
  • Required to unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites including securing waste
  • Pick up specified waste from each scheduled customer site
  • Ensures customers have packaged and prepared waste according to regulations before transporting
  • Provide highest level of customer service communicating any issues for resolution
  • Ensures waste, supplies, and equipment are secured before operating vehicle on public highway
  • Completes assigned paperwork legibly and accurately
  • Completes DOT Driver Log if applicable
  • Communicates with Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher regarding route changes
  • Ensures relief employee is aware of unusual situations
  • Reports problems with accounts before end of business day
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on trucks
  • Reports maintenance problems for follow-up
  • Uses ELD and Geotab to log hours per DOT guidelines
  • Performs other duties as needed
