Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in customer service within a hotel or similar environment
- Proficient knowledge of hotel property management systems
- Strong understanding of accounting principles related to hospitality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work overnight shifts and independently
- Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
- Familiarity with cash handling and auditing procedures
Job Duties
- Check Guest Service Agent's accounting records for accuracy each evening
- Summarize and compile information for the hotel's financial records daily
- Prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities reflecting the hotel's financial performance for that day
- Post room charges and room taxes to guest accounts
- Verify all account postings and balances made during the day shift
- Prepare end-of-day shift
- Run end-of-day process in property management software (PMS)
- Understand principals of auditing, balancing, and closing of accounts
- Register guests and assign rooms accommodating special requests whenever possible
- Assist in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations
- Adhere to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash-handling policies and procedures
- Track room status and coordinate with housekeeping
- Use promotional selling techniques to promote rooms and hotel services
- Coordinate guestroom maintenance with maintenance department
- Process guest check-outs
- File room keys
- Read and initial the pass-on log and bulletin board daily to stay informed of hotel activities
- Attend meetings as required by management
- Report unusual occurrences to General Manager or Assistant General Manager
- Know all safety, emergency procedures, and accident prevention policies
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area
- Perform other duties as assigned
