Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience performing cleaning tasks using industrial type cleaning equipment
- Physically able to perform moderately heavy physical effort including frequent lifting of about 40 pounds and occasional lifting over 50 pounds
- Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds
- Willingness to perform cleaning duties in indoor environments with adequate heat, light, and ventilation
- Ability to handle skin irritations from cleaning solutions
- Commitment to safety and ability to recognize and prevent hazards
- Availability to work full-time 35 plus hours per week
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of experience performing cleaning tasks using industrial type cleaning equipment
- Ability to lead and direct a team of janitorial workers
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment maintenance
- Ability to perform minor repairs on equipment
- Physically capable of lifting and moving objects weighing 40 pounds frequently and over 50 pounds occasionally
- Understanding of safety protocols when working with cleaning equipment
- Good communication and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Sets the pace and gives direction to janitorial workers performing cleaning tasks such as sweeping, waxing, stripping, scrubbing, buffing, vacuuming Navy Exchange stores and offices, utilizing heavy industrial type equipment
- Empties garbage, dusts office furniture, shampoos rugs, cleans air vents, mirrors, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls, lavatories, urinals, water fountains
- washes walls, glass doors and main partitions
- sweeps parking lots and cleans sidewalks of adjoining buildings
- replaces toilet tissues, soap, paper towels
- Demonstrates proper work methods
- Requisitions cleaning supplies and ensures needed materials and equipment are available
- Secures stores and offices after cleaning
- Cleans and maintains machines and equipment used in assigned duties and makes adjustments accordingly
- Reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor for corrective action
- Performs minor equipment repairs as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
