Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years leadership experience in related industry
  • ServSafe Food Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to represent the aquarium professionally
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop training programs and train employees
  • Experience managing labor costs and food waste
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check
  • Ability to stand bend crouch push and pull for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly

Job Qualifications

  • 5 plus years of progressive leadership experience in theme park attraction concession tourism hospitality or entertainment industry preferred
  • Experience operating food and beverage operations and teams
  • ServSafe Food Certification and TIPS training or ability to obtain certification
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards cleanliness procurement presentation production and food service operations
  • Ability to professionally represent the aquarium
  • Skilled in developing training programs and training staff
  • Proficient in cost control labor efficiency and minimizing food waste
  • Demonstrated guest service retail and sales skills including program development management budgeting and quality service commitment
  • Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and coaching staff
  • Self-starter with planning organization priority setting and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work days evenings weekdays weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to read and manage sales plans and financial statements
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Job Duties

  • Coach and lead the food and beverage team by example creating a collaborative and respectful environment
  • Collaborate on Newport Aquarium business strategy and planning annually and ongoing
  • Role model company culture with all stakeholders and maintain high team standards
  • Reflect the aquarium culture to guests partners direct reports peers and support center
  • Establish goals objectives and procedures for food and beverage units including product knowledge training coaching and team development
  • Manage profit and loss responsibilities for all food and beverage revenue and expenses
  • Create and reinforce sales culture ensuring highest standard of customer service and sales potential maximization
  • Lead departmental planning and budgeting activities
  • Participate in design and planning of food facilities and revenue programs to maximize profit
  • Ensure exceptional customer service consistent with brand positioning and efficient guest recovery
  • Coordinate guest service programs integrating marketing and sales efforts
  • Manage and maintain budgeted labor and food costs through scheduling and best practices
  • Monitor weekly cost of sales focusing on purchasing inventory and waste control
  • Review and approve staffing schedules ensuring efficient coverage
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards as measured by third party audits and authorities
  • Communicate expectations and conduct staff evaluations providing performance feedback
  • Ensure weekly inventories completion and submission
  • Oversee development and implementation of standard operating procedures
  • Hire retain and develop effective food and beverage management team
  • Comply with safety and security policies ensuring safety standards
  • Undertake special assignments from the Revenue Director
