Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, crouch, push and pull
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in theme park, attraction, concession, tourism, hospitality or entertainment industry preferred
  • Experience in operating food and beverage operations and teams
  • ServSafe Food Certification and TIPS training or ability to obtain
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, cleanliness, food procurement, presentation, production standards, and food service operations
  • Professional representation of the aquarium
  • Ability to develop training programs and train personnel
  • Cost control skills focused on labor efficiency and food waste management
  • Demonstrated solid guest service, retail, sales, management, budgeting skills, and commitment to quality service
  • Experience managing, mentoring and coaching service staff with proven leadership skills
  • Self-starter with skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and achieving goals
  • Ability to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read and manage sales plans and financial statements
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Coach and guide the team by leading through example and fostering a collaborative, respectful, and committed work environment
  • Collaborate on the annual and ongoing business strategy and planning for Newport Aquarium
  • Role model and promote the company culture among all stakeholders
  • Establish goals, objectives, and procedures for food and beverage business units including training and product knowledge development
  • Manage Profit and Loss responsibility for food and beverage revenue and expenses
  • Create and uphold a sales culture focused on exceptional customer service and maximizing sales potential
  • Lead departmental planning and budgeting processes
  • Research, coordinate, and participate in design and planning of food-related facilities and revenue programs
  • Ensure exceptional customer service consistent with brand standards and efficient guest recovery
  • Manage guest service programs in integration with marketing and sales
  • Monitor and control labor and food costs, schedules, purchasing, inventory, and waste in coordination with directors and supervisors
  • Review and approve staffing schedules to maintain efficiency
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards compliant with third-party audits and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate expectations and conduct regular staff evaluations for performance improvement
  • Oversee completion of weekly inventories
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures and policies
  • Hire, retain, motivate, and develop the Food & Beverage management team
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security policies and standards
  • Undertake special assignments or projects as directed by the Revenue Director
