Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • current BLS certification
  • current C.N.A. license in state of practice as required
  • completion of unit-approved ECG or EEG course or on the job training with passing score for certain departments
  • skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience preferably in a hospital or physician office
  • excellent organizational skills
  • effective human relations and communication skills
  • working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy

Job Qualifications

  • preferred completion of approved unit secretary program
  • preferred additional related education or experience

Job Duties

  • Provide hands-on patient care to promote comfort and recovery
  • assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake
  • monitor and document vital signs and patient data accurately
  • support nurses and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure seamless patient care
  • perform delegated medical procedures such as blood draws, foley catheter removal, EKGs, and monitoring under supervision
  • maintain patient records including admission, transfer, discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms
  • assist with transportation of patients and participate in department operational tasks to support efficiency
