Job Requirements

Minimum age 18
high school diploma or equivalent
completion of company orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire
knowledge of computer systems and equipment
strong customer service skills
communication and interpersonal skills
reading and writing skills
planning and organizing skills
ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
ability to work with customers attentively
ability to perform department-specific physical tasks including lifting up to 55 lbs and occasional exposure to various working conditions

Job Duties

Provide superior customer service
take orders from customers by telephone or in person
answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
clean and sanitize display cases
operate and maintain equipment properly
comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
comply with department and store operating procedures
for bakery: record production and shrink to aid production planning, assist in baking, frying, and decorating, cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration
for deli: care for service counter customers, use ordering system applications, use fresh production planner, perform inventory management, ensure catering orders are prepared on time, perform sanitation and maintenance for deli slicers
for prepared foods: serve and package products at customers' request, educate customers on preparation and reheating, repackage condiments, cut and prepare food for chefs
