Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
One year of experience as a cook
Current Pierce County Food Handlers Card
Ability to respond quickly to program changes
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Requires the full manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination and alertness to use mechanical equipment
Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance
Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy
Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services
Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork
Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving of all meals
Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of volunteers engaged in food preparation, cooking and serving
Enforces and follows the "Clean as you go" policy
Responsible for inventory control, meal counts, and other information as requested by the Operations Assistant
Cleans all kitchen equipment and recommends repair and service needs to the Operations Assistant
Works with the kitchen team to effectively manage guest's behavior and create a safe and welcoming environment
Participates in training and staff meetings
Other duties as assigned
