This position is located within the Food and Beverage Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. Job Requirements
- No formal education required
- Prior food and beverage serving experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must comply with all safety and hygiene standards
- Responsible alcohol service training/certification preferred
Job Qualifications
- Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
- Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from
- Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or foreign
- Knowledge of available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures
- Skill in proper table setting techniques
- Knowledge of simple math calculations to tabulate checks
- Ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol
Job Duties
- Serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
- Apply proper food handling techniques including serving and removing food from the correct side
- Possess knowledge of all food items on the menu, including American and foreign dishes
- Understand beverage and wine selections and their appropriate serving temperatures
- Utilize skill in proper table setting techniques
- Perform simple math calculations to tabulate customer checks
- Recognize intoxicated patrons and adhere to responsible service protocols
