Job Description

The Navy Region Southwest's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department operates an extensive Food and Beverage Division dedicated to providing superior dining services to Navy personnel and their families. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
  • must resolve any discrepancies as a condition of employment
  • must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation
  • must be able to handle objects that weigh up to 20 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
  • knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from
  • knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or foreign
  • knowledge of the available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures
  • skill in proper table setting techniques
  • knowledge of simple math calculations in order to tabulate checks
  • ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol

Job Duties

  • Perform necessary preparations in assigned area prior to opening the dining room such as setting tables with cloths, silverware, glasses, condiments, napkins, and decorations
  • prepare back-up tables with supplements such as butter, ice, coffee, fruits, juices, salads, and breads
  • be familiar with the menu for the day, offer suggestions if requested, record desired selections from guests and turn in the order for preparation to the kitchen
  • serve side dishes such as salads, fruit dishes, bread, wine or other beverages
  • clear and clean tables and the immediate area after meals and reset tables for the next guests
  • perform other related duties as required
