Job Requirements
- No specific education required
- Previous experience in food and beverage service preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods
- Must comply with all Navy regulations and policies
- Ability to work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
- Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from
- Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or foreign
- Knowledge of available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures
- Skill in proper table setting techniques
- Knowledge of simple math calculations in order to tabulate checks
- Ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol
Job Duties
- Serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
- Apply proper food handling techniques, including correct side service
- Demonstrate knowledge of menu items and beverage pairings, including wines and proper serving temperatures
- Set tables following proper etiquette and presentation standards
- Tabulate checks using basic math skills
- Identify intoxicated patrons and adhere to responsible alcohol service policies
