Job Requirements

  • No specific education required
  • Previous experience in food and beverage service preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must comply with all Navy regulations and policies
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
  • Knowledge of proper food handling techniques such as the correct side to serve from and the correct side to remove from
  • Knowledge of the composition of all food items on the menu, whether American or foreign
  • Knowledge of available beverages and wines and which wines complement specific meals and their proper serving temperatures
  • Skill in proper table setting techniques
  • Knowledge of simple math calculations in order to tabulate checks
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated patrons when serving alcohol

Job Duties

  • Serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence
  • Apply proper food handling techniques, including correct side service
  • Demonstrate knowledge of menu items and beverage pairings, including wines and proper serving temperatures
  • Set tables following proper etiquette and presentation standards
  • Tabulate checks using basic math skills
  • Identify intoxicated patrons and adhere to responsible alcohol service policies
