This position is located in the Food & Beverage division of the Morale, Welfare, & Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Navy personnel, their families, and authorized patrons by providing morale, welfare, and recreational services that support readiness and resilience. Job Requirements

  • no positive education requirement
  • ability to manage multiple simultaneous food preparation activities
  • experience in supervision of food service personnel
  • knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and safety in food service areas
  • strong organizational and coordination skills
  • good communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • training from a culinary institute preferred
  • knowledge of planning, scheduling, and coordinating food service operations
  • understanding of prices, dietetics, food grades, and meal planning
  • ability to recommend corrective action
  • skill in applying new food management methods
  • knowledge of cooking, baking, and serving food in large quantities
  • ability to supervise and train kitchen personnel
  • knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation inspection
  • aptitude in preparing records and reports

Job Duties

  • assist the chef in planning food preparation
  • supervise food preparation and cooking activities
  • coordinate operations across multiple food facilities
  • oversee preparation of large quantities of meals for scheduled events
  • ensure compliance with cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • train and supervise personnel in food preparation and service
  • prepare and maintain pertinent records and reports
