The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program is a vital community-based initiative dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for service members, their families, and civilian employees by providing a wide variety of recreational, cultural, and social activities. Managed under the Community Recreation branch, the program offers diverse opportunities ranging from special events and community gatherings to trips and outings, all designed to foster morale and promote well-being within the military community. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong organizational and planning abilities
- Knowledge of recreation activities, principles, and procedures
- Customer service experience
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Computer literacy including office software
Job Qualifications
- Combination of experience related to customer service and recreation activity-based functions
- Ability to organize, plan, and administer special events and entertainment activities
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques, and procedures used in organizing, planning, and conducting leisure time activities
- Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and Community Recreation activities
- Ability to maintain records, compile data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of computers, office procedures, and print production
Job Duties
- Perform a variety of duties in support of the MWR Community Recreation program
- Organize and plan special events and entertainment activities
- Manage recreation information and resources
- Support command events, visiting ships, and fleet support
- Coordinate community events, trips, tours, and outings
- Oversee party and picnic rental equipment and resale tickets
- Manage recreational green spaces, bowling, library, Liberty programs, grab-n-go services, movies, and outdoor recreation
