Job Description

The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for military members, their families, and other authorized patrons. This program provides a broad range of recreational activities and services that promote relaxation, entertainment, and fun within the military community. The focus is on delivering quality programs that meet the diverse interests and needs of individuals and groups, encouraging community engagement and fostering a healthy, vibrant environment.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • experience in customer service or recreation-related activities
  • ability to work independently
  • strong decision-making skills
  • effective communication skills
  • knowledge of leisure activity planning and management
  • proficiency with computers and office procedures
  • ability to maintain accurate records

Job Qualifications

  • combination of experience related to customer service and recreation activity-based functions
  • ability to organize, plan, and administer special events and entertainment activities
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • knowledge of principles and techniques used in leisure time activity organization and planning
  • understanding of Navy MWR mission and Community Recreation activities
  • knowledge of recreation functions, procedures, and operations
  • strong customer service skills
  • ability to maintain records, compile data, and perform research
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • knowledge of computers, office procedures, and print production

Job Duties

  • support Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Community Recreation program activities
  • organize and plan special events and entertainment activities
  • provide recreation information and resources
  • manage command and community events
  • coordinate trips, tours, and outings
  • handle party and picnic rental equipment and resale tickets
  • maintain recreational green spaces
  • support bowling, library, Liberty programs, grab-n-go services, movies, and outdoor recreation
  • maintain records and compile data for reports
