The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program is a vital part of supporting the well-being and quality of life for military personnel, their families, and the surrounding community. This program provides a wide variety of services and activities designed to promote leisure and recreational opportunities. These offerings help foster camaraderie, enhance morale, and support the physical and mental health of participants. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in customer service or recreation-related activities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of leisure time activities and recreation program goals
  • Proficiency with computers and office procedures
  • Ability to organize and manage events and activities
  • Capacity to maintain accurate records and reports

Job Qualifications

  • Combination of experience related to customer service and recreation activity-based functions
  • Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of goals, principles, techniques, and procedures of leisure time activities
  • Understanding of Navy MWR mission and Community Recreation activities
  • Knowledge of recreation functions, procedures, and operations
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and conduct research
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computers, office procedures, and print production

Job Duties

  • Perform duties in support of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Community Recreation program
  • Organize and administer special events and entertainment activities
  • Provide recreation information and resources
  • Support command events and visiting ships or fleet support
  • Manage community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment
  • Handle resale tickets and recreational green space management
  • Facilitate activities such as bowling, library services, Liberty programs, grab-n-go, movies, and outdoor recreation
