Job Requirements

  • No positive education requirement
  • Must demonstrate experience related to food preparation skills and knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand written food service materials
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
  • Knowledge of sanitation principles
  • Skill in planning and coordinating cooking sequences
  • Experience with food characteristics and cooking times

Job Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures related to food preparation in small quantities
  • Ability to read and understand food service materials such as recipes and labels
  • Skill in basic arithmetic computations for recipes and servings
  • Knowledge of food characteristics including color, flavor, consistency, texture, and cooking time
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and time cooking processes effectively
  • Knowledge of sanitation principles
  • Experience in food preparation and cooking environments

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for in house dining facilities and catering events
  • Apply knowledge of food preparation methods for small quantities
  • Read and follow standardized recipes and food labels
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations for ingredient measurements and serving sizes
  • Plan and coordinate the timing sequence of cooking steps
  • Ensure food quality by monitoring color, flavor, texture, consistency, and temperature
  • Follow sanitation principles and maintain a clean kitchen environment
